Happiness is...
... a local source of raw milk ...
... from grass-fed cows...
... in glass bottles ...
... that are returnable.
This totally makes my day!!

A Special Package
This special package came in the mail today from my Uncle John...
... a box of his precious black walnuts!!
He scours the countryside each fall in search of these gems, meticulously shells them, and then distributes them to lucky folks like me. I am thrilled to have access to local black walnuts and enjoy them each morning in my warm oatmeal made from steel cut oats.
This package was ever so special to me on another level....
My Uncle John reminds me so much of my father, and getting this package in the mail today felt as if I had received something from my father who passed away last spring. Their handwriting is almost identical, and they both have/had their special projects that kept their minds sharp and their lives fruitful. I'm grateful for their legacy.
Thank you, Uncle John!

Today...
This was a project I should have tackled before the weather cooled, but of course I didn't get to it until now. I've been wanting to update my living room curtain rods with a creamy white shade of paint. Although it was a lovely day and warm enough, it was too windy to spray paint outside. So, I got started, but then had to clean up and head to my sister's for Thanksgiving dinner before I finished. AAAHHH - another unfinished project - the story of my life!!

Today's Root's Find
I've been wanting to try growing some Ranunculus ever since discovering them on one of my favorite blogs, A Country Farmhouse, so I was tickled to stumble across them at Root's today. I didn't know anything about them - didn't realize they are a spring bulb. I'm eager to try my hand at growing them; just have to figure out where to plant them. :) Also, was happy to purchase some Lily of the Valley bulbs. My mother always had a patch of them, and they remind me of sweet, old-fashioned days....

Today's Thrift Shop Find
I such a sucker for these vintage glasses - they remind me of meals at my Great Aunt Ruth's house when I was a little girl. I've decided to start collecting them, but only when I can find them at a bargain. These were a bargain indeed, especially since it was Friday night at my local thrift shop when everything is 50% off. :) I was thrilled to find the orange juice canister as well.
I really like how the oranges on the outside of the glass are a pale orange,
but viewed from the inside, they're a bright, cheery orange.
Yea for vintage glassware!

Today's Thrift Shop Find
Love these vintage Christmas ornaments,
especially when I can find them for a bargain! Since it was Friday night at my local thrift shop, they were 50% off, bringing my total to a whopping $.93! :)
Love, love, love the colors - they'll be fabulous for all kinds of possibilities...
:)
Today...
A trip to Miller's Natural Foods,
where they have a large assortment of organic grains and beans.
The store is located right in the heart of Amish country, so there were lots of fun sights to take in.
